I had the pleasure of working closely with Guy during my time as CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Australia, where he was my creative partner helping lead the agency.
Three things spring to mind when I think of Rookie.
Firstly, he’s one of life’s genuine good buggers. Everybody in the agency loved working with him – as did clients at every level. Personally he was a fantastic partner and really cared about mentoring and inspiring everyone in the agency to be their best. This had a hugely positive effect on the agency culture. ‘Hard on the work, not on the people’ is the mantra he lives by.
Second, Rookie is blessed with a rare balance of creative brilliance and astute strategic smarts. While he’s passionate about delivering great creative work – it’s never at the expense of helping solve a client’s business challenge first.
Last but not least, he is a phenomenal force for good. Sometimes to a fault, where he often selflessly gives a lot to people and causes he truly cares about – without expecting much in return.
All the while, he enjoys a lot fun along the way.
